Syria Live Blog

http://blogs.aljazeera.net/liveblog/syria

very useful

"Fighting raises Yemen civil war fears"

http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2011/05/201153154824811632.html

could have put this in with the BBC story, but I think its worth noting the differences.

"South Korea digging for evidence in Agent Orange probe"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13598247

"Yemen forces 'kill 20 protesters' in Taiz"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13592935

this is still happening.

"Prisoners in Thailand kept 'shackled and cramped'"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13598193

"Youth feel targeted by swear jar law"

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/05/31/3231985.htm

this certainly falls into "the crap people care about when they want to ignore real issues" category.

Tuesday 24 May 2011

"Yemen: Three die in Sanaa as Hashid tribe fights police"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13506751

"Libya: 'Forced to rape in Misrata'"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-13502715

as told by 2 soldiers captured by rebel forces. If this is even close to true it is disturbing beyound all reason. All the more so as the motivation for the crime is not discussed and presumably unknown.

"EU slaps sanctions on Syrian president"

http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2011/05/20115239937407663.html

still no talk of invasion, however.
apparently the death toll is now 863- but i think that only includes protestors

and something i missed while i was sick
